A Guide to Government Partnership: Learn to Master Scaling

Host Organization: Stanford Social Innovation Review

About

In this 90-minute LIVE program, you will learn how to:

  • Recognize opportunities for your nonprofit to partner with government entities to scale impact.
  • Discover strategies for nonprofits to build public-private partnerships through information-sharing, policy alignment, and co-investment with government.
  • Identify and connect with government leaders to forge public-private partnerships.
  • Develop deep coordination with government entities to sustain impact.
  • Create structures within your organizations to establish the foundation for a partnership mindset among your teams.
  • Foresee pitfalls of working with government partners and approaches to address those challenges.

Government adoption is the holy grail of scale for nonprofits. Yet nonprofit, philanthropic, and government leaders often operate in silos, missing opportunities for innovative solutions to pressing problems. Different timelines, goals, and approaches between philanthropic and government entities add to the challenge. By building relationships, recognizing partnership opportunities with the government, and investing in true collaboration, nonprofit and philanthropic leaders can harness the strengths of all sectors to achieve exponential impact.

In this program, we will arm you with frameworks to develop programmatic alignment with government policy, build a network of collaborators to ensure maximum impact and bring those partnerships to fruition with live exercises, worksheets, and illustrative case studies. We will outline how to map mission-aligned partnership opportunities with exercises to deepen your understanding of your nonprofit’s underlying capacity to advance public-private partnerships. Nonprofit leaders will come away from this workshop with an understanding of leveraging partnerships to further their mission.

Kathleen Kelly Janus, Lecturer at Stanford University Program on Social Entrepreneurship and Senior Advisor at Freedman Consulting LLC, will facilitate and lead this session.
