Event

The African Prisons Project

Host Organization: The African Prisons Project

About

Peter spent 18 years in prison, mostly on death row, where he studied law and helped those around him, obtaining a Presidential Pardon for his release. Susan won her freedom 16 years after her death sentence and became the first female inmate to obtain a Law Degree from the university of London. Peter and Susan are “Changemakers”.

The Founder of African Prisons Project, ALEXANDER MCLEAN, will tell these stories and of the APP vision for Changemakers within prisons, inmates and staff, who will bring justice to the most vulnerable in society, make prisons places of positive transformation, and ultimately create systemic change. APP is attempting an incredible innovation: creating a prison based law school and law firm. Alexander is a Senior TED Fellow and was named by Time magazine to its "30 Under 30" list of world changers.
