How we want to die represents the most important and costly conversation America isn’t having. Many in this country still die without the support they need to end their lives well, and care and cost management systems still are not optimized to support end of life as well as they might. But there is cause for hope: a growing group of stakeholders are coming together to develop effective approaches that leverage community engagement, optimize resources and care systems, and  – most importantly – preserve and honor the dignity and self-determination of the individual.

In 2018, NCG will be convening a series of conversations and learning opportunities for funders interested in exploring the opportunity to engage and advance innovation in end of life care. To being this work, NCG is hosting an evening of food and conversation about end of life, called Death Over Dinner. This event, also called “Let’s Have Dinner and Talk About Death” was started by a group of healthcare and wellness leaders who are committed to breaking the taboo regarding conversations about end of life. The project aims to inspire an ever-growing community of people to talk about an often-not-discussed topic—death and dying.

We would be honored if you would take the time to join us for dinner and engage in this conversation. This is not meant to be a morbid conversation, but instead a very human one where we consider what we want, both in life and during its closure, and how we can support others to have similar conversations.
