Dr. Joel Fuhrman: Plant-Based Nutrition for the Whole Family

Host Organization: Town Hall Seattle

About

Chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, and stroke are among the leading causes of death and disability in America—and according to recent studies, six out of ten Americans live with one of these conditions. Board-certified family physician and bestselling author Dr. Joel Fuhrman joins us (for his only Seattle appearance this year) to reveal methods for preventing these diseases through diet and healthy lifestyle choices. He expounds upon his eating style—“Nutritarian”—which is built around a diet of nutrient-dense, plant-rich foods. Dr. Fuhrman shares steps for transitioning to a plant-based diet as a family and ways to set your child up for long term success with healthy eating habits. Join Dr. Fuhrman for a crash-course in nutrition, as well as a treatise on steering clear of diet misinformation to help us make healthy choices for ourselves and our families.

Dr. Joel Fuhrman is a doctor and author who champions a micronutrient-rich diet. A former competitive figure skater, he suffered a serious injury which removed him from competition. Following the injury, alternative medicine therapy helped speed his recovery and led him to become a physician. He has written several books promoting his dietary approaches, including Super Immunity, The End of Dieting and Eat to Live, which was on the New York Times bestseller list for 90 weeks.
