Philanthropy is increasingly acknowledging the importance of integrating more equitable and racially-just grantmaking practices, including investing in the vision of impacted communities to develop, lead, and implement their own solutions. While some progress has been made, funder practices continue to lag behind their rhetoric. Given some constraints at individual foundations, can pooling resources catalyze efforts to cede power and decision-making to impacted individuals and community-members?
As foundations strive to pivot to trust-based philanthropy, participatory grantmaking, and community-led investments, how can funding collaboratives be leveraged as a tool towards more equitable and just practices?
Join a panel of funders who have helped to start or have staffed funding collaboratives who have explored or are exploring these and other questions.
All interested members in grantmaking roles. What to expect: presentation and roundtable discussion, followed by a mixer and happy hour.
