Innovation to Impact

Host Organization: Washington Global Health Alliance

About

WGHA is pleased to partner with the Pacific Science Center and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to present the Global Health and Development lecture series as part of PSC’s Science in the City program. We hope you can join us the second Tuesday of each month for intriguing conversation, insightful discussion, and a whole lot of learning!

The tools for innovation are more widely accessible today than ever before, but turning great ideas into impactful solutions is a thorny problem. In the global health world, organizations are catalyzing change with Grand Challenges and other mechanisms to help turn innovative ideas into commercial products. In this talk Beth Kolko, Professor of Human Centered Design & Engineering at the University of Washington will share the journey of a small Seattle company that started with an idea and built collaborations with global health organizations and the startup ecosystem to bring a new medical device to populations worldwide.
