Managing Family Dynamics and Talking About Wealth: Training hosted by The Oregon Community Foundation

Host Organization: 21/64

About

Wondering how to prepare yourself for what issues might arise when broaching the subject of multigenerational success, legacy planning, philanthropic engagement? Already experiencing conversations with clients or fund holders that have emotional content and feel complex? This program builds on the 21/64 Approach Training (a prerequisite for this course) and takes it a step further, helping to make the invisible dynamics of a system visible to you as an advisor and facilitator of important discussions.

You may join for both days or individually register for Managing Family Dynamics or Talking About Wealth.

On Day One, Managing Family Dynamics, you will learn to look at client situations using a family systems approach to illuminate how everyone is intrinsically and powerfully connected to our families of origin and to bring awareness to the complex dynamics embedded within each family or group system. We’ve curated key theories in the field and will train you on tools to help you comfortably navigate conversation and decision-making with your donors and clients. Like the 101 Training, you will experience this work personally by examining your own family diagram and move to facilitating tools you can use with others.

Day Two, Talking About Wealth, challenges one of the oldest and most entrenched taboos- money. This training provides easily accessible ways to talk about money with your clients, donors, and fund holders. Observe how your own money story informs or inhibits your money conversations with clients and practice facilitating money tools to add value to client conversations around wealth, legacy, and philanthropy planning. This training will also prepare you to support clients questioning how to have these conversations with their children.

Time to consult with participants and facilitators on both days allows you to address your specific challenges and tap into the wisdom of the group.
