Measuring and Addressing Institutional Racism in Your Foundation

Host Organization: Philanthropy New York

About

The pandemic has moved us into a period of unprecedented change that has also allowed many of us to become more receptive to doing things differently, leaving behind the status quo. We are envisioning racially equitable workplaces that truly develop and maintain racial equity in our policies, processes, and culture. And everyone in the organization - not just HR - is playing a role in ensuring progress toward that goal.

Join us for a discussion on how to measure and address institutional racism as it influences how you bring people into your organization and ensure their success as employees. Our facilitator will lead us in workshopping tools and practicing with your peers.

Explore

  • The process of putting racial equity values into practice through deliberate thought, courage, transparency, and fluency in the language of race and racism
  • The range of ways to measure institutional racism, including underutilization analysis, occupational segregation analysis, race-explicit culture surveys, and pay equity analysis
  • The range of tools to minimize institutional racism, including job analysis, compensation philosophies, applicant logs, structured interviewing, supervisor training, and rubrics for resume review, hiring, and promotion
