Practical Matters: Tools for Supporting Immigrants in Disasters [Webinar]

Host Organization: Center for Disaster Philanthropy

About

When disaster strikes, individuals and families who are immigrants are among the most vulnerable populations affected. With factors like linguistic isolation or insecure documentation status, immigrants are at great risk before, during and after disaster events. And in many places, resources to support preparedness, response and recovery initiatives for these communities are scarce.

As part of our Supporting Immigrants in Disaster series, we are hosting a second webinar with Houston Immigration Legal Services Collaborative (HILSC) and Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR). The conversation will focus on the specific tools funders and organizations can use to ensure they are truly supporting immigrant populations in disasters and beyond.

Panelists: (Additional panelists will be added as they are confirmed)

  • Aryah Somers Landsberger, Vice President of Programs, GCIR
  • Nirupa Netram, Director of Foundation & Legal Operations, Southwest Florida Community Foundation, Inc.
  • Sally Ray, Director of the CDP Hurricane Harvey Recovery Fund
  • Kate Vickery, Executive Director, HILSC

This webinar is at 2:00pm EST.
