Recent Trends on Education Philanthropy, Grantmakers for Education

Host Organization: Grantmakers for Education

About

Grantmakers for Education (GFE) is the nation's largest and most diverse network of education grantmakers dedicated to improving educational outcomes and increasing opportunities for all learners.

Founded in 1995 on the premise that collective insights, shared resources and constructive collaboration enable grantmakers to make more intentional and impactful investments, GFE sets out to demonstrate the power of networks in affecting greater change. Today, their branches are as wide as our roots are deep. With a diverse membership of nearly 300 organizations and 1,600 individuals, together, GFE extends the reach and expand the influence of education philanthropy.

Celine Coggins, Executive Director, will speak on recent national trends regarding education philanthropy.  For more than two decades, she has been in the education field, including roles as a middle school teacher, a leader in education policy, and the assistant to the Massachusetts Commissioner of Education.  Her 2017 book, How to be Heard: Ten Lessons Teachers Need to Advocate for their Students and Profession, has become the playbook for successful educator activism.   She currently holds an appointment as a lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
