Rethinking Philanthropic Strategy Through a Social Justice Lens

Host Organization: Collaborative

About

Today, as the notions of justice and equity are intertwined with nearly every facet of life, philanthropy and philanthropists need to not only take note of disparities, but also review their own institutional principles and practices in order to accelerate social impact and drive social change.

In this session, you’ll learn how nonprofits and foundations can uproot traditional fundraising tactics in order to educate donors on the root causes of injustices, utilize donations to drive tangible change, and further engage and uplift the communities they serve.

This panel will bring together Jocelyn Harmon, Principal at Jocelyn Harmon Consulting; Alandra Washington, VP for Transformation and Organizational Effectiveness at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation; and LaRhonda Magras, CEO at YWCA Central Alabama; and Kathy Reich, Director of Building Institutions and Networks at the Ford Foundation to have a meaningful conversation about justice in philanthropy.
