Rewriting the Rules of Philanthropy: How We Give Now

Host Organization: Stanford PACS

About

Philanthropy is not the sole domain of institutions or wealthy individuals–people of all backgrounds are giving in creative ways to drive social change. Yet, these other forms of giving are often ignored, marginalized, or deprioritized by the social sector and policymakers. How We Give Now, a new book by Lucy Bernholz, examines the diverse ways that people are giving money, time, and even data to help communities and seek justice.

Join Lucy, along with Asha Curran, CEO of GivingTuesday, and Edgar Villanueva, Principal of Decolonizing Wealth to explore emerging trends in giving and learn how our response to current crises will reshape the future of philanthropy through collective action, mutualism, and reciprocity.

Speakers:

Lucy Bernholz - Director, Digital Civil Society Lab; Senior Research Scholar, Stanford PACS
Asha Curran - CEO of GivingTuesday
Edgar Villanueva - Principal of Decolonizing Wealth
Rhodri Davies - Session Moderator, Centre for Philanthropy, University of Kent
