The Biggest Lie Ever Told: Post Prison Education With Pete Earley

Host Organization: Post-Prison Education Program and Town Hall Seattle

About

The Post-Prison Education Program offers hope and creates opportunities for men and women returning to society from prison by providing wraparound services centered on post-secondary education. They invite us to a panel discussion exploring what they’ve called “the biggest lie ever told”—that recidivism is a mysterious and unsolvable problem.

This panel of experts—joined by former Washington Post reporter, mental health advocate, and bestselling author Pete Earley—addresses the connections between mental healthcare for former prisoners and the ability for former prisoners to better integrate into society and reduce their risk of readmission into the prison system. Listen in for a chance to explore the impact of mental illness on current and former prisoners, and learn what you can do to help.

Pete Earley is a storyteller who has penned 17 books including four New York Times bestsellers, including The Hot House and the 2007 Pulitzer Prize finalist Crazy: A Father’s Search Through America’s Mental Health Madness.
