The Philanthropic Closet - New Research on LGBTQ People in Philanthropy

Host Organization: Philanthropy New York

About

Do you know how many LGBTQ people work in philanthropy? Funders for LGBTQ Issues’ new upcoming report, The Philanthropic Closet: LGBTQ People in Philanthropy finally answers that question - and the results might surprise you!

The report notes that upwards of 10 percent of people working in philanthropy identify as LGBTQ, however, the majority are not open about their sexual orientation or gender identity with their work colleagues.

What does this mean for us as a sector?

Philanthropy New York is pleased to invite you to join CHANGE Philanthropy and Funders for LGBTQ Issues for a presentation, followed by a chance to mix and mingle with friends and colleagues to discuss your own reactions.

Explore:

  • The findings of the initial Diversity Among Philanthropic Professionals (DAPP) Survey
  • Highlights from the authors on the demographics of LGBTQ people in philanthropy
  • How leaders in the field are responding to the new report

Presenters

  • Jennifer Ching, Executive Director, North Star Fund
  • Lyle Matthew Kan, Director of Research and Communications, Funders for LGBTQ Issues
  • Kristine Stallone, Vice President of Finance & Administration, American Jewish World Service
