Wealth Source & Women’s Philanthropic Practices

Host Organization: Lilly Family School of Philanthropy

About

Lois Buntz, author of Generosity and Gender, along with a panel of women philanthropists explore the connection between a woman’s source of wealth and her philanthropic practices.

Join Lois Buntz, author of Generosity and Gender, along with Dr. Susan Blaustein and Dr. Alicia Makaye to explore the connection between a woman’s source of wealth and her philanthropic practices. As more women acquire wealth through intergenerational transfers, younger generations earn wealth and/or inherit it, and more women of color participate in philanthropy, their attitudes about wealth will change the landscape for fundraisers, foundations, and thousands of worthy causes.

Wealth source is one of many factors that influences giving, but one that will become more relevant over time as women donors become more diverse. Their unique experiences will create opportunities to learn more about women’s attitudes and motivations for giving. The social, economic, and cultural changes that our world is experiencing touches all women and their reactions individually and collectively may have connections to how their wealth was built.
