For over three decades, attorney (and now ACLU Deputy Legal Director) Jeffery Robinson has devoted his career to racial justice. In recent years, he has traveled the country speaking hard truths about race in America. Now the Rotary Club of Seattle invites us to a community discussion featuring Robinson, who takes us through this stolen history, showing us how the legacy of slavery and U.S. imperialism impacts every aspect of our society. Robinson imparts a necessary history that upends our comfort and calls us to arms. Jeffery Robinson is a deputy legal director and the director of the ACLU Trone Center for Justice and Equality, which houses the organization’s work on criminal justice, racial justice, and reform issues. For seven years, he represented indigent clients in state court at The Defender Association and then in federal court at the Federal Public Defender’s Office, both in Seattle. Jeff was one of the original members of the John Adams Project and worked on behalf of one of five men held at Guantanamo Bay charged with carrying out the 9/11 attacks.
