Buffalo Together: Community Response Fund

Host Organization: United Way of Buffalo and Erie County Buffalo, NY, USA uwbec.org/

About

As the Western New York community grapples with the horrific mass shooting at a Jefferson Avenue grocery store on Buffalo’s East Side, dozens of local funders, coordinated by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo and United Way of Buffalo & Erie County, are coming together to establish the Buffalo Together Community Response Fund.

Comprised of local philanthropic organizations, this collaborative effort is built upon our collective desire to take action and to work to address immediate needs in our community, long-term community rebuilding, and systemic issues that have marginalized communities of color. While still in the early stages of development, the group will listen and learn from communities of color to develop specific guiding principles and processes for directing the fund's resources.

About the Host

The United Way of Buffalo & Erie County brings people, organizations, and resources together to improve community well-being. Since 1917, United Way has been empowering individuals, businesses and organizations to make our community stronger.

Every year, United Way invests millions of dollars in local Education, Income, and Health & Wellness programs that help people in need. We match resources - such as money, volunteers and training - with community agencies that directly benefit people in Buffalo and Erie County.

We offer strategic training and resources to area nonprofits through our Not For Profit Resource Center, and we provide extensive volunteer support through events such as Day of Caring, Family Volunteer Day, and Business Meets Community.
