The Urgent Needs Fund received initial funding from the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation, Oleson Foundation, Rotary Charities of Traverse City, United Way of Northwest Michigan, DTE Foundation, Herrington-Fitch Family Foundation, and Huckle Family Foundation. Additional support has been committed by the Brookby Foundation, the Beers Family Foundation, Cherryland Cares, Team Elmers, Les and Anne Biederman Foundation, Art and Mary Schmuckal Family Foundation, Frey Foundation, HP Foundation, Consumers Energy Foundation, and many individuals.
The goal of this fund is to help ensure organizations across our five-county region that working with the people and families who are most vulnerable and disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus and economic consequences of the outbreak are supported.
Grant funding is currently prioritzing support for nonprofits who are providing immediate relief services; we hope to also support long-term recovery efforts in the coming months as funding allows.
Donations will be used to grant funds to local nonprofit, governmental, and educational organizations that are providing vital services such as access to food and basic hygiene, caring for senior citizens, supporting utility and rental assistance, and overall basic needs that are impacting and benefitting communities across Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau Counties.
The Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation exists to enhance the quality of life in our communities, now and forever, by serving as a leader of local philanthropy.
