The Market Community Safety Net is a fund available to people working, living or accessing community services in Pike Place Market, who are facing a sudden financial crisis and need support to regain stability. In addition to financial support, The Market Community Safety Net also provides community resource referrals and support provided by staff at The Market Commons with a goal of achieving long-term economic stability for our community members.
The Community Safety Net provides emergency assistance for Market residents, members of the social service agencies, or of the merchant, daystall and farmer communities who have experienced extraordinary hardship and are in need of assistance to regain their stability.
Established in 1982 to uplift the charter of Pike Place Market, the Market Foundation has granted $31 Million to support low-income housing, culturally-appropriate health care, access to healthy food, high-quality preschool, an active community and to fund capital needs within the historic district. As community builders in the Market we partner with, as well as operate and sustain, a network of programs and services that support low-income residents, workers, families and neighbors of the Market.
