United Way of Central Maryland: COVID-19 Community Fund

Host Organization: United Way of Central Marylandmdi-circle-small Baltimore, MD, United States mdi-circle-small uwcm.org

About

Businesses are closing. And people who depend on jobs at these places are feeling the hit. People like waitstaff, cooks, retail clerks, hotel employees, those working temp jobs.

As the Coronavirus situation evolves, the 211 Maryland United Way Helpline call volume has skyrocketed as the number of cases increases.
People are calling for help. With questions. With pressing needs as workplaces, shops, and restaurants close and uncertainty dominates our daily lives.

During this crisis, you can help ensure callers continue to receive the help and support of our 211 team, who operate 24/7, on the frontlines of providing assistance and resources to those in need.

United Way is here to provide what’s needed, where it’s needed, right now. As work schedules are cut and more jobs are eliminated because of the virus, we know that people need help covering basic expenses, like rent or mortgage, food, utility bills, and healthcare.

This fund will be used to support people struggling with basic needs in Maryland throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Although there are many emergency needs this fund will address, it will also be used to support long-term recovery from this situation.
