The United Way of Eastern Maine (UWEM) and our partners are working hard to respond to the COVID-19 Pandemic to meet the short term, immediate needs, of individuals and families that will be impacted by COVID-19 as well as the long term impacts that have yet to be seen.
UWEM recognizes the potential for economic impact, unpaid absence, illness, or job loss related directly or indirectly to the virus, increased child care needs due to school and child care closures, and the potential risk of not being able to pay housing, utility and food bills due to financial strains. Organizations that serve populations in need every day are finding themselves under-resourced to serve a growing demand for those services. As an organization we are working hard to raise both money and volunteers needed to respond to this crisis.
Working with the communities we serve, United Way of Eastern Maine is a trusted catalyst for meaningful and lasting change that improves the lives of people in our region. Our mission is to improve the lives of people in Eastern Maine by mobilizing the caring power of people and communities.
