About

Over 15.8 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance in Sudan, many of which are in danger of life-threatening injury or dying through lack of medical care. With 50,000 children facing severe malnutrition and 24,000 pregnant women with scarce access to healthcare, the conflict in Sudan is affecting the most vulnerable now more than ever.

Hospitals have come under attack. Medical supplies are almost exhausted. Fuel to run generators is in desperately short supply and health workers are struggling to reach those in need of urgent treatment.

Sudanese health workers are showing enormous courage and resourcefulness to respond to the growing needs. WHO is supporting them by providing essential drugs, trauma and surgical supplies, and fuel to maintain health services and seeking safe passage to treat the injured and those in immediate danger. Together with the Sudan Ministry of Health, WHO is monitoring needs and directing emergency and trauma kits to where they are needed the most, adapting the response to be effective in this evolving and chaotic crisis.
