Didi Hirsch Psychiatric Service

Culver City, CA, US https://didihirsch.org/

Mission

For 75 years, Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services (DHMHS) has transformed lives by providing quality mental health, substance use and suicide prevention services in communities where stigma or poverty limits access. Our roots go back to the 1930s when a group of women funded psychiatric care for families devastated by the great depression. In 1942, with ,000 and space provided by the Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, these philanthropic pioneers established the first nonprofit mental health clinic of its kind in Los Angeles. In 1974, the agency was renamed in honor of social worker Didi Hirsch after she and her husband, I. Kingdon Hirsch, donated the matching funds for it to become a federally-designated community mental health center.
