GLAHR Action Network

Mission

In 2018 and with our local partners, Mijente and GLAHR Action Network ran the first campaign targeting Latinos in the state of Georgia for primary and  general election. We had conversations with half of the latinos in the state, 92,000 people. Since then we have continued to build political power and issue-based campaigns.

In the 2020 general election, Mijente and GLAHR Action Network were the only set of organizations doing door-knocking in the state, reaching Black and Latinx voters. We knocked on 120,000 doors, and with the text messages and phones attempted to talk to 500,000  in Gwinnett and Cobb counties. Gwinnett was one of the counties with the largest turnout of Latino voters in the state.

In addition to the big state changes, we helped 2 counties in Georgia vote to end controversial policies which impacted the Latinx both of whom had pledged to end the 287g program in Gwinnett and Cobb counties. The program had made these two areas amongst the top counties deporting immigrants.
