Since 1996, Montana Two Spirit Society has worked toward bringing the two-spirit community together to focus on health wellness and spiritual wellbeing. Through honoring the traditions of acceptance and understanding that our history holds, we hope to strengthen our cultural connections and pave the way for two-spirit people to reclaim the place they have in their communities and cultures.
We provide a safe and inclusive circle that honors the various histories and traditions of Native and Indigenous cultures. Each unique cultural heritage can offer a foundational strength that is powerfully relevant as we navigate modern health and societal issues.
We raise awareness about two-spirit and Native LGBT issues through presentations, marches, participating in regional two-spirit gatherings, and representing two-spirit people at demonstrations for 2SLGBTQ+ rights. We also work to build coalitions and partnerships with local groups such as All Nations Health Center or the Western Montana LGBTQ Community Center.
We focus on bringing our community together in strength and learning. Coming together in community is important to maintaining health, wellness and resiliency. Throughout the year we do this in several ways such as with our annual Gathering as well as attending other two-spirit gatherings and powwows, hosting events with community partners and creating and maintaining safe spaces for two-spirit people to join.
Montana Two Spirit Society is fiscally sponsored by the Pride Foundation.
