Our Place NH is a nonprofit organization with a mission to create housing opportunities for adults with
developmental disabilities. Incorporated in 2019, Our Place put together a board of directors and began to
learn about supportive housing as a long-term and sustainable solution. We discovered Visions Creative
Housing Solutions in Enfield, NH (Visionsnh.org) which was started by a parent, Sylvia Dow. We loved how
Visions was able to provide a supportive home with transportation to employment in the community and
recreation opportunities. Our Place will offer one- or two-bedroom apartments where tenants will have a
lease and all the rights of typical tenants. In addition to apartments that have their own kitchenette and
bathroom, tenants will be able to gather in a common kitchen/dining room and living room. Meals will be
provided in the common dining room or tenants can cook in their own apartments. Our Place will have staff to
help with daily living skills, paperwork and banking, transportation to employment or recreation activities,
community involvement, and medical appointments. Along with this self-contained model which we would
build, we are partnering with a developer who creates apartment buildings with 40-50 units of work-force
housing. We would staff 25% of those units for adults with developmental disabilities with the same model of
care.
