Welcome to the South Dakota Education Equity Coalition (SDEEC), a vibrant community of dedicated stakeholders united by a common goal: fostering diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning environments. Our coalition is committed to shaping a brighter future for Indigenous youth in South Dakota, ensuring they have the resources, support, and opportunities to flourish.

Our Vision
At the heart of SDEEC is a profound and transformative vision: to see a day when Indigenous youth in South Dakota are nurtured in educational environments that are innovative, equitable, and inclusive. We aspire for these young minds to grow with confidence, to thrive in their uniqueness, to exercise self-determination boldly, and to embrace their identity unapologetically.

Our Priorities
The coalition's efforts are focused on four key priority areas, each carefully selected based on the needs of the community, the initiatives of our members, and ongoing projects in South Dakota. We invite parents, guardians, educators, practitioners, advocates, and community members to collaborate with us in these vital areas:

• Honor seven generations back and seven generations forward.
• Elevate and promote the Oceti Sakowin Essential Understandings.
• Advocate for youth access to education based on language, culture, and ways of being.
• Amplify and support treaty rights for students, families, and communities.
