TRLA's mission is to promote the dignity, self-sufficiency, security, and stability of low-income residents of Texas. As the larget provider of free civil legal services in Texas and the third largest in the nation, TRLA serves approximately 25,000 income-elibible clients per year. TRLA's legal services are organized around eight board groups, including labor & employment, disaster assistance, public benefits, housing, family, economic & social justice, individual rights and victims' rights. In addition, TRLA provides legal aid for survivors of sexual assault in Northwest and Southwest Texas and serves migrant and seasonal farm workers across texas and in six southern states. TRLA works with the Texas indigent defence commission to provide public defenders and holistic representation for indigent criminal defendants in ten rural South Texas counties.
