House of Hope - A way out for homeless women

Many women in India suffer extreme cruelty at the hands of their families. There is a need to provide shelter for homeless women who receive no support. El Shaddai accommodates a safe house for homeless women in difficult circumstances.

Need

67% of the women are homeless and are living on the streets. They are often denied even basic rights such as food, health-care and are thrown out of their homes by their families. El Shaddai provides shelter, meals, skill development programs and healthcare for the homeless.

Long term impact

Our project will provide women with a caring and congenial environment. With training and empowerment, these women can start to build new lives for themselves and their children and get back to normal life. Being a survivor, she will have the capacity to support people that are dependent on her. She will choose to be free from abuse and stand on her own feet after hardships in life allowing her to be reintegrated with the society.

About the Organization

Mission: To create homes, shelters, community centres and schools to transform children's lives. El Shaddai as an organization exists to open Homes and Shelters for abandoned Street Children and for children coming from economically poor or broken families providing them with the basic necessities of life, so developing their personalities leading to a brighter future. To establish support systems for the weaker sections viz. women & children of our society. To conduct awareness & educational programmes including medical camps among the slum dwellers.
