What are the current challenges for grantmakers in the digital age and what tools are needed to help them use digital resources safely, ethically and effectively?
Join Dr. Lucy Bernholz from Stanford University’s Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society (Stanford PACS) Digital Civil Society Lab, for an action-oriented workshop uniquely designed for leaders of grantmaking organizations to examine, build and improve their digital data governance practices and policies.
The rapid adoption of digital tools for social and political action has resulted in a complicated new sphere we refer to as “digital civil society.” Digital civil society includes all the ways people and organizations voluntarily use private resources for public benefit in a digital age. Increasingly, these resources are digital, including data about donors, grantees, and beneficiaries. Digital data (e.g., on donors, grantees and beneficiaries) offers a world of possibilities to achieve greater impact — as well as risks and responsibilities to be managed with the same care given to financial resources.
We are a nonprofit too. Donate to Giving Compass to help us guide donors toward practices that advance equity.
