Midwest Flooding: The Year’s Biggest US Disaster [Webinar]

Host Organization: Center for Disaster Philanthropy

About

Flooding across the Midwest and the South has affected nearly 14 million people this year with an estimated $12.5 billion in damage in the Midwest alone this spring. However, as is common with floods, there has been very little attention and very limited resources focused on the recovery needs of communities – some have spent months under water.

The Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP)’s Midwest Early Recovery Fund is hosting a discussion to help funders understand the extent of the flooding and raise awareness of upcoming flood risks in 2020.

Speakers will discuss the impact of the flooding and explore the current recovery needs of affected communities. CDP Vice President Regine Webster will moderate the discussion.

Panelists: (Additional panelists will be added as they are confirmed.)

  • Nancy Beers, Director of the CDP Midwest Early Recovery Fund
  • Sara Going, First National of Nebraska
  • Dennis Todey, Director of Midwest Climate Hub, USDA-ARS NLAE Ames, IA
