Mindfulness training supports a present-centered, open-minded orientation towards the experiences of others and yourself, which has been shown to increase resilience in the face of stress, as well as increase your engagement and creativity.

And self-compassion supports us in bringing our full selves to the foreground by responding with kindness, emotional self-awareness, compassion, and a sense of connection with others – even when situations are challenging.

In this hands-on experiential training, we’ll learn what mindfulness and self-compassion are and how they are practiced.

We’ll explore our stress responses and how mindfulness and self-compassion support healthier and more resilient outcomes in response to stressors. Along the way, we’ll enjoy the poetry, stress reduction, and engagement that these practices bring in a warm classroom learning community. Participants will learn practical mindfulness and self-compassion practices they can apply both at work and at home.

Workshop objectives include:

  • Understanding that mindfulness training is process-oriented and comprised of formal and informal training practices.
  • Understanding that self-compassion has three key areas of practice, one of which is mindfulness itself.
  • Becoming familiar with the physiological stress response and how mindfulness practice and awareness of the effects of mindset can lead to alternate outcomes.
  • Knowing how burnout is defined in psychology and how mindfulness training can reduce or prevent it.
  • Seeing how mindfulness and self-compassion training supports the growth and maintenance of empathy and emotional intelligence.
  • Understanding how the “turning-towards” orientation supported by mindfulness supports healing and symptom reduction with chronic emotional and physical pain.
  • Sampling the research support for physiological, psychological, and neurological changes supported by mindfulness practice.

Lunch will be on your own; delivery services such as UberEats and Postmates deliver to Pacific Tower, and there is a microwave and Farestart cafe in the building.

Cancellation policy:
The cancellation fee is $45.

If you must cancel your registration, you may request a refund minus the $45 fee up to 3 working days prior to the workshop date. After this date, no refunds will be issued. Please note that “no-shows” will be charged the full workshop fee. All fees must be received within 90 days after the workshop or a service fee of $45 will be added.
