Later this month Demos and Data for Black Lives will release a groundbreaking new report addressing data capitalism and offering solutions that build power for Black and brown communities. In the age of "big data" and surveillance, we need to be concerned about more than just personal privacy. Join Demos, Data for Black Lives, and allied groups for a look at how data capitalism worsens inequality throughout our economy, and how people are organizing to take back power.

This webinar will focus on several areas featured in this new report. Panelists will discuss how the growing use of data extraction and algorithms shape people’s experiences with workplace surveillance, consumer finance, media and communications, and policing and the criminal legal system. We'll also provide a preview of the accompanying website we’ve developed to leverage the findings of our report, and which you can use to share a summary of the report with your friends, family and colleagues.
