We believe that with our existing relationships with cities and schools, health and human service agencies, and corporate partners, we are uniquely suited to respond to this community need. In alignment with our mission, we’re implementing a response plan with an emphasis on under-resourced populations and those who will be disproportionately affected. When a crisis like this hits our community, our hardest hit neighbors are those already struggling to make ends meet – we call them ALICE – Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed.
Our purpose is to be there for those who need us most, so we’ve stepped up to help our nonprofit partners and our hardest hit neighbors during this critical time. We are focusing our response on three priority areas:
1. Direct service to individuals through our Coronavirus Recovery Hotline with support from ForKids
2. Immediate support to human service agencies currently on the front lines
3. Long-term recovery planning
There are many great causes of national and worldwide importance. People from all over donate to them. But the only people meeting our local needs – shelters for children, programs for the disabled, meals for the low-income elderly – are those who live here in South Hampton Roads. If we don’t help our most vulnerable neighbors, no one else will.
Minimum Investment: $50
We are a nonprofit too. Donate to Giving Compass to help us guide donors toward practices that advance equity.
