Black Voters Matter, along with their affiliated 501(c)(3), BVM Capacity Building Institute, has revolutionized the way philanthropy thinks of, funds, and engages with Black organizing in the South, and they continue to mentor and support smaller organizations while running culturally competent programs. Black Voters Matter’s mission is to increase civic engagement and power building in predominantly Black communities. They work to strengthen the capacity of community-based organizations seeking to expand civic engagement, particularly in rural and other hard-to-reach communities through voter registration and GOTV, policy advocacy, organizational development and training, and independent expenditures.
