DEMOCRACY NORTH CAROLINA

Mission

Democracy North Carolina grew out of Democracy South which began as a project of the Institute for Southern Studies. 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of Democracy NC educating and mobilizing voters to participate in elections, fighting for safe and accessible elections, and challenging the corrupting role of money in NC politics. To do this work, Democracy NC uses research, organizing, and advocacy to strengthen democratic structures, build power among disenfranchised communities, and inspire confidence in a transformed political process that works for all.
