FLIC Votes seeks to expand democracy by shaping an active and conscious electorate which reflects the diversity of Florida, while engaging those who can’t yet vote. They advance their mission through bold electoral and advocacy programs centering the engagement of New American Voters and low-propensity voters of color.
Founded in 2016, FLIC Votes has engaged thousands of voters and volunteers, helping to win rights restoration in Florida in 2018 and the minimum wage raise in 2020. In 2020 alone, they strengthened progressive voices in school boards, municipal and county commissions, Florida House and Senate, and U.S. Congress by endorsing and helping to elect 16 champions.
FLIC Votes unique power-building model has contributed to their movement’s cohesion, direction, and impact. In a short period and with a modest investment, they have evolved from episodic, tactical mobilizations to a more sophisticated, strategic, and impactful organization.
