Mission

LEAD NC exists to seek out, encourage and cultivate a new generation of community and civic leaders for North Carolina. Their commitment to the people of North Carolina includes a promise to recruit and train a cohort of leaders that reflect the changing demographics of the state and develop a greater understanding among civic leaders of inequalities based on race, class, gender, sexual orientation, and citizenship. To achieve that goal, LEAD NC works collaboratively across the state’s pipeline infrastructure to recruit candidates and then leads campaign training for both candidates and their staff to prepare the next generation to step into public leadership, run for office, or prepare to govern.
