Mission

Racial Equity 2030 Challenge Finalist

Since 1997, Partners in Development Foundation (PIDF) has been dedicated to drawing upon the ancient Hawaiian cultural traditions to meet the current challenges facing today's Hawaiian population. Using vital traditional concepts such as the ahupua'a system of land and environmental stewardship, and ho'ona'auao, traditional mentorship in education, Partners in Development creates and implements programs to address the needs of at-risk groups within the Hawaiian community, such as preschool children, their caregivers, and economically depressed neighborhoods.

Launched in October 2020 and sponsored by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the Racial Equity 2030 Challenge will award $90 million to help build and scale actionable ideas around the world for transformative change in the social, economic, political, and institutional systems that uphold racial inequities. Fourteen hundred (1,400) proposals were submitted to the competition and were evaluated using four criteria: Whether the proposals were game-changing, equitable, bold, and achievable. Awardees will be announced in September 2022.
