This session discusses what is needed to be an effective philanthropist in this moment post COVID-19, and its economic collapse. Drawing on his book, Giving Done Right: Effective Philanthropy and Making Every Dollar Count, and new data from the Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP) about the challenges nonprofits face today, Phil Buchanan, CEP’s president, addressed the crucial need for effective giving in this moment. He argued that a strong and well-funded independent sector is vitally important and plays a role neither government nor business can.
