Drawing on his book, Giving Done Right: Effective Philanthropy and Making Every Dollar Count, and new data from the Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP) about the challenges nonprofits face today, Phil Buchanan, CEP’s president, addressed the crucial need for effective giving in this moment. He argued that a strong and well-funded independent sector is vitally important and plays a role neither government nor business can.

If you're fortunate enough to have resources, as an individual or whether you're a foundation and institutional giver, now is the time to step up because the COVID crisis is exposing the inequality that existed, but it's worse in that it's deepening that inequality, not just now, but potentially for generations.
