Wildfires in Ventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties are forcing thousands of people from their homes and destroying millions of dollars in property. As the fires continue to incinerate the hills of Southern California, there is an immediate need and greatened opportunity to help. The Southern California Grantmakers is a regional association for philanthropists and grantmakers working to make a difference. Below is a list of local resources the group has compiled detailing organizations, disaster response initiatives and immediate disaster needs:

Ventura County:

  • Ventura County Community Foundation has set up a Disaster Relief Fund to support the immediate and mid- to long-term needs of those impacted by the fire.
  • United Way of Ventura County has set up the Thomas Fire Fund and has formed a strategic partnership with the American Red Cross of Ventura County and the Ventura County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services.

Los Angeles County:

  • The Red Cross of Los Angeles County provides shelter locations, evacuation updates and safety information to those threatened by the fires.
  • The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation has a fund to support the First Responders.

Statewide:

  • The California Fire Foundation's Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency (SAVE) program brings immediate, short-term relief to victims of fire or other natural disaster throughout California.
  • The California Fire Foundation also supplies emergency support to departments and families of firefighters killed in the line of duty and provides educational assistance to the children of fallen firefighters through the California
  • Firefighters Endowment and Daniel A. Terry Scholarship program.
