Just over four months ago, Hurricane Harvey hit the shores of the Texas Gulf Coast bringing widespread devastation to the region. Mayor Sylvester Turner and Harris County Judge Ed Emmett established the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund to help address the immense needs in and around Houston. The fund is dedicated to filling the gaps that are not being met by other local and federal efforts on a short and medium-term basis. In the days, weeks, and months that followed, we saw an outpouring of support from across the United States and beyond with over 125,000 donors contributing more than $112 million dollars.

Round 1 Hurricane Harvey

We want to share a few figures that represent only a part of what donations have been able to achieve for our community [through three rounds of grant distributions]. To date, over $64 million dollars has been granted to 109 unique nonprofit organizations in order to serve the most vulnerable populations in the Houston area. We are grateful for the leadership and commitment of the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund Advisory Board and Grants Committee that has been an integral part of the grantmaking process.

Round 4 will be focused on housing, behavioral health, legal services, and other unmet needs. One hundred percent of donations go to immediate and long-term storm relief efforts.
