Giving Compass' Take:

• Fundraising & Philanthropy interviews Wendy Fisher, an artist and philanthropist who believes in the power of art and how it can be a leveler for race, religion, or other global injustices.

• How can people give to the arts and how can cultural institutions encourage giving? What ways can funders drive more equity into the arts?

Here's an example on how art can be a barometer of social progress across America.

An artist who now dedicates much of her time to philanthropy, Wendy Fisher criss-crosses the world supporting the arts.

The President of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation Board of Trustees, Wendy has worked with some of the world’s most revered cultural institutions.

This month the British Friends of the Art Museums of Israel (BFAMI) will honour Wendy for her outstanding commitment to BFAMI and her dedication to philanthropy and the arts.

I strongly maintain that art, as unquantifiable as its effects are, is an urgent and necessary channel for philanthropy.

BFAMI is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to raising funds to support educational programs run by the Art Museums of Israel.
