There are approximately 400,000 automated teller machines (ATMs) in the United States, of which approximately 20% are operated by ten U.S-Based banks, such as Bank of America and Chase. Each ATM is estimated to process approximately 800 transactions per month; for an estimated total of 320,000,000 transactions — per month.
Not all ATM users pay the estimated $3 fee per transaction. For the sake of my idea — let’s say it’s only 10%. That’s still 6.4 Million transactions per month and 76,800,000 transactions per year paying $3 to use the ATM. Looking ONLY at the 10% of total estimated bank ATM users who are paying transactions fees:
- What if each user is asked to donate an additional $1 to charity?
- What if each user is asked to donate an additional $.50 to charity?
