Young people today are facing enormous challenges from the impact of the pandemic, resulting in significant educational needs to support their academic, social and emotional well-being and success. But schools are less able to address these challenges as they are on the frontlines of another political battle.

A few years ago if you said the phrase “critical race theory” (CRT) to someone outside of a law school, they almost certainly would have had no idea what you were talking about. However, in 2021 alone, 28 states either passed laws, introduced bills, or took other steps that would restrict the teaching of “critical race theory” or “divisive concepts” that limit how educators can discuss racism, sexism, or gender identity in the classroom.

This attack on equity has harmful consequences for students, schools, and communities, such as teacher shortages, biased and incomplete curriculum, and unsafe learning environments.

All kids deserve an education that provides a complete understanding of America’s full history. To create a better future and a more equal society, we need to teach our children the economic and societal costs of racism.

During this one-hour dialogue, you'll learn:

  • A brief overview of the origins and impacts of this attack
  • How to challenge injustice in schools and workplaces
  • Specific actions you can take to support those who are crafting a path forward
