About

Animal Grantmakers, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is the only funder affinity group focused solely on animal protection. The mission of the philanthropy serving organization is to expand the sphere of animal protection philanthropy and cast a wider and stronger safety net for animals in the communities its members serve. A diverse group of foundations, public charities, corporate giving programs, individuals and other philanthropists, the members of Animal Grantmakers work on local, regional, national and global issues affecting companion animals, captive and free-ranging wildlife, farmed animals and animals used in research, among others. By participating in Animal Grantmakers, funders can: learn from one another; discover areas of critical need and new/expanded initiatives to address those needs; strategize how to scale up the impact of programs benefiting animals; explore opportunities to collaborate; improve their grantcraft; and more. Founded in 1999 by funders with a common concern for animals, Animal Grantmakers is a key part of the growth seen in animal protection funding over the last 20 years.
