Asian Women Giving Circle Gathering Featuring Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya

Asian Women Giving Circle

About

What a time we’ve been through as a country, last week whiplashing from the euphoria over two historic Senate wins in Georgia to the horrors of riots, mayhem, and unchecked, privileged, white supremacy at the Capitol. I’ve googled unimaginable things, like “what’s the difference between sedition and treason” and “what does an expedited impeachment look like,” and after one very straight-laced news commentator used the word to describe one of the current President’s more craven, flip-flopping enablers, “what’s a fluffer?” — fair warning – you will giggle, but it’s also a little rude.

Certainly we all need to take time to take care of ourselves and our loved ones. We need time to reflect on the meaning of this moment. And importantly, we all need to think deeply about what we will DO. This is a time for action – active thinking, active loving, active community building, active DOING.

To get us thinking and building community together, we invite you to join us for a conversation and (via ZOOM) studio tour with artist, activist Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya – see invitation attached. Artists reimagine different futures – and different pasts (anyone else enjoy Bridgerton lately – super silly but super fun, and wow, a Black Duke and Black Queen hoooray!).

This is a moment that invites us to imagine different possibilities, better ones, more inclusive ones. Please join us this year as we explore what we can do together to build community while supporting artist activists who courageously paint, write, perform, dance, sing and speak truth to power.
