Investing in Ourselves: Economic Opportunity & Older Black Women

Host Organization: Center for Workforce Inclusion

About

Older, Black women experienced the steepest drop in labor force participation and have had the slowest job recovery during the Pandemic recession. According to Teresa Ghilarducci, economist and director of the Retirement Equity Lab, Black female workers “might never recover." The implications are staggering for individual job seekers, families, and communities.

Our board member, Angela S. Beddoe, sits down with Asahi Pompey and Tonya Veasey to discuss the obstacles facing older Black women as they reenter the labor market and pursue meaningful, sustainable opportunities. They will highlight some of the innovative workforce and policy solutions that Black women across the public, private, and philanthropic sectors are pursuing to not only reverse the current situation but to create lasting change.
