Learning Community on Scaled Impact in Education – Session V

Social Impact Exchange

About

Titled “On the Road to Scaled Impact: Exploring Policy in Education,” this session will consider pubic policy’s role in scaling educational impact at all levels: from considering the current national landscape to addressing implementation and impact upon classrooms. We are honored to have a fantastic group of speakers who will be sharing their experience, knowledge and perspectives. These include:

  • Dr. James Honan, Senior Lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education
  • Jamie Woodson, Executive Chairman and CEO of TN SCORE
  • Barbara Chow, Director of Education at the Heising-Simons Foundation
  • Bethany Little, Principal at the Education Council
  • Rich Neimand, President of the Neimand Collaborative
  • Xanthe Jory, ‎Executive Director of Expansion, Policy, and Performance, NYC DOE

The session will address but not be limited to some essential questions such as: Why policy? What is the role of foundations? What considerations should be made at different stages of the policy process to achieve greater scaled impact? How can policy be integrated as a necessary but insufficient element to achieving greater scale? What is needed on the ground to ensure the right kind of sustained support for policies, implementation and impact?
