SVP Global Summit 2019: Communities at the Center

Social Venture Partners

About

For twenty years, Social Venture Partners has leveraged the networks of thousands of engaged philanthropists to effect meaningful change in communities worldwide. Today, SVP is 8 countries and 43 affiliate chapters strong — a global movement of over 3400 engaged donors, skilled leaders and volunteers transforming the world’s understanding of social impact.

Every year, our international community converges to renew its commitment to the challenge of smarter philanthropy. We share the best of our affiliates’ work across the globe; examine our sector’s most pressing concerns and emerging practices; deepen the understanding of our individual and collective roles as change agents; and expand through the connections that define our network.

2019’s summit will gather our network to examine the meaning of servant leadership and centering impacted and historically marginalized communities.

  • How does our historical context show up today? How do we acknowledge this history so that we can move forward?
  • What do we need to unlearn and relearn in order to do this?
  • How can we both transform and be transformed — while also honoring the communities we work with?
  • What is our role? How can we channel our power and privilege to move power and resources where they are most needed?
  • Why do we show up to do this work? Why do we stay? How do we benefit?
